Cam vs Kam

As you know, we have two special guests this week - David Cameron and our very own Kam. Kam is desperate to beat the Prime Minister and this post is dedicated to looking at their predictions and comparing them.

Arsenal vs Fulham - Cam 2-1, Kam 3-1
Who will get it - I reckon Kam.

Birmingham vs Spurs - Cam 0-1, Kam 0-2
Who will get it - Probably Kam

Blackburn  vs Wolves - Cam 0-1, Kam 1-2
Who will get it - Too close to call, Draw

Blackpool vs Man United - Cam 1-0, Kam 0-3
Who will get it - Definitely Kam

Chelsea vs Everton - Cam 2-1, Kam 4-0
Who will get it - Cam

Man City vs Bolton - Cam 2-0, Kam 2-0
Who will get it - Draw

Wigan vs Stoke - Cam 2-1, Kam 1-2
Who will get it - Cam

Sunderland vs West Ham - Cam 1-0, Kam 2-1
Who will get it - Kam

West Brom vs Newcastle - Cam 1-1, Kam 0-2
Who will get it - Draw

Liverpool vs Aston Villa - Cam 0-6, Kam 1-1
Who will get it - Kam for sure

So, the overall scores are Kam 5, Cam 2, Draw 3.
I think that Kam has a great chance to fulfil his ambition.

New competitor - Kam

We have a new competitor for our competition, lets see what he thinks.
This is done in an interview format. Questions are in red, answers in blue.

So, what do you think of the Arsenal vs Fulham match?
It will be a poor match with Arsenal trying to pass the ball into the net, but I reckon Fulham are in poor form and won't be able to cope with Arsenal's ultimate possesion. I am going to say 3-1 to Arsenal.

How about Birmingham vs Tottenham?
Well, Birmingham obviously had a great season last year, with a lot of hard work and good defence. They have recently beaten Villa and Chelsea. However, I do not feel they can match a side like Spurs, who have serious European, and even Premier League, aspirations. It will be a 0-2 victory for the Spurs.

Tough one now, Blackbun vs Wolves
Blackburn took a nice, hard, slap in the face last week, by the beastly Man United and you've got to say, it has been coming for a while. Wolves, on the other hand, have been in deadly form against the top clubs, with Matt Jarvis running rings around the star defences of Man U and Man City. But, their form has dipped against lower clubs, where they have fallen behind early and then suddenly been in a position to fight for points. Wolves have many high quality players and I can see them coming back and winning this one. They will play from the start this time and I reckon a 2-1 win away for Wolves even though they haven't won away this season. ( As you can probably guess Kam is a Wolves fan.)

Chelsea vs Everton, maybe the game of the weekend. What do you think will happen?
Well Chelsea have started the season on a flyer, however with many problems now in the club they have suffered a slip in form without Essien in the middle of the park. Essien is back and will now be ready to take control again having lost the spot on the top of the table to United. John Terry is also back but can be very unreliable and too slow and might let Pienaar slip through or Beckford or Saha.
Everton will be a tough opponent however but with Chelsea back to the top of their game, they probably will not be able to win this one. Everton are also missing their star man Arteta to suspension and won’t be able to win in the midfield without him so I will say Chelsea to win 4-0.

How about Man City vs Bolton?

Well Man City are in a slight crisis and manager Mancini will be aiming for a big win to put them back into the limelight. They face a tough but not so great side in Bolton and I think a 2-0 win would suit City. I think a bit of Balotelli and Silva magic could leave Bolton dead.

What do you think about this cracker? It's Wigan vs Stoke.

THIS is the match of the weekend, Wigan vs. Stoke. I think Wigan are an absolute shambles defensively and have been leaking goals. However Charles N’Zogbia and a few of their other forwards do have the capability to win a match in a few plays. Yet I reckon Shawcross and co will soon smash that out of them and I don’t think Wigan’s attack will be up to the physical challenge. I think 2-1 to Stoke shall do. Just in case you didn’t realise I was joking about this being the game of the weekend.

This is a match that could go two ways, Blackpool vs Man United?
Well Manchester United are now on top of the table and coming out of a 7-0 win over Blackburn in the league. Yet they won’t be complacent (as they often are) after the 4-0 loss in midweek to West Ham. Wayne Rooney is back and will be bursting to impress again and maybe this time get himself on the score sheet.  I reckon 3-0 to Manchester United.

West Brom vs Newcastle?
I think that West Brom are the biggest bunch of lucky talentless losers in the league. They have been lucky so far this season as teams see them as the underdogs for every match. They have no star players or match winners and no real net busters. I think Newcastle on the other hand play good football and with the always potent Andy Carrol up front they can win this. They never switch off against lower sides unlike Wolves and can win this one. I think 2-0 to Newcastle.

Sunderland vs West Ham?
Sunderland are a great young side and are on a great run of form. They have an incredible attack with Bolo Zenden, Darren Bent, Danny Welbeck and the funky Asamoah Gyan who will be looking to pull out another one of his celebrations. West Ham are a poor side led by the inspiring Scott Parker. Moreover they are coming out a 4-0 win against Manchester United and will probably be tired and over-confident. Carlton Cole is looking good but I will say 2-1 Sunderland.

Now do you agree at all with David Cameron's prediction for this one?
No! 6-0 Villa! What! He is crazy... Aston Villa are a very good side and have had a superb few seasons under Martin O’Neill. But he is gone along with Gareth Barry and James Milner, some leading lights in the team. Liverpool are going strongly after last year’s catastrophe. I would say 1-1.

Competition Update

In the prediction competition, I am also going to include the predictions of Mark Lawrenson and his guest. This week it happens to be Mr David Cameron! I will score their predictions too along with Phil's and mine. This will all be posted on Friday by the latest.

Arsenal vs Wigan

Arsenal beat Wigan 2-0 in the Carling Cup yesterday. Although Wigan got off to a good start, our team proved a bit too strong for them. We were fortunate with the first goal, an own goal by Alcaraz, but overall we deserved the win. And, thanks to West Ham's great performance, Manchester United are out! West Ham won 4-0 after doubles from Spector and Carton Cole and a great performance by Victor Obinna, who set up all four goals. I hope that this will mean that we will at last end our long wait for a trophy, even if it is only the Carling Cup.

Competition Rules

For the competition, you will be scored like so:
1 point - Correct result, e.g draw, loss, win
2 points - Correct number of total goals
3 points - Correct score for one team, e.g 2 goals for Arsenal
5 points - Correct complete score

So, if you say for example the score will be 3-2, and it is, you will get 1+2+3+5 points, i.e 11.
But if you say 3-2 and it finishes 2-3 you will get only 2 points.

I hope this is clear.

What is the difference between the Web and the Internet?

Many people consider the Web and the Internet to be the same thing, but they are not.

The internet is a networking infrastructure, a massive network of networks as such. It connects millions of computers together worldwide so as long as two computers or more are both connected to the internet, they can communicate with each other.

The web, however, is a way of accessing information via the internet. The web is built on top of the internet and uses the language HTTP protocol. The web also uses browsers such as Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, to access web pages.

Cesc Fabregas

Centre Midfield: Cesc Fabregas
                      10/10
Cesc carries Arsenal. He creates so many chances, scores and is not lazy with tracking back to defend, unlike Arshavin. He is, I believe, Arsenal's best player by some margin, and one of the best players in the world. His loyalty leaves me speechless; he was stopped from going to Barca, his dream, but he never sulked, he just got on with playing. He is a great guy, and I don't know what we would do without him.

Wednesday 13 October 2010

Samir Nasri

Right midfield: Samir Nasri
                 8.5/10

Nasri, like Vermaelen, has adapted to the English game rather quickly and has a very good creative eye. I have never seen him play a very bad game and his vision creates chances. He is important to a strong Arsenal midfield, and can link up well with strikers

Monday 11 October 2010

Bacary Sagna

Right Back: Bacary Sagna
               7/10

Sagna is not that bad a player. He is not the best crosser of the ball but does like to go forward and is not as shaky as some of the other players are in defence.

Laurent Koscielny

Centre Back: Laurent Koscielny
                  7/10

I don't really know much about him, I guess we will find out as the season goes on. He got sent off, scored a goal and made a few terrible mistakes but he needs to ease into the game. He looks good in the air and didn't do too badly against Chelsea. Let's see what happens.

Thomas Vermaelen

Centre back: Thomas Vermaelen
                         9/10
Vermaelen was key to the Arsenal defence last year. He has settled in very quickly and is a very reliable defender. He is strong, tall and scores goals, one of arsenal's key players.

Gael Clichy

Left back: Gael Clichy

7/10      Since recovering from a large injury, Gael has never bombed                 forward as he used to and has always been a bit uncomfortable facing big names in defence. However, he is still very quick and this does come in handy

Manuel Almunia

Goalkeeper: Manuel Almunia

5/10       Cannot believe Arsene did not sign a new goalkeeper during the transfer window. Almunia just makes too many mistakes to be in a title challenging team. He is not even in the top three for Spain, which says a lot about how good he is.

Are Arsenal good enough?

Here is a question posed by most Arsenal fans: 'Are we good enough to challenge for major trophies?'

In an attempt to answer this, I have done an analysis of the first team and subs of the three teams most likely to challenge for the premier league title.
